After the successful unveiling of one-off and the most extreme version yet of the supercar McLaren MP4-12C, the track-focused design concept McLaren 12C GT Can-Am at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance earlier this summer, the race car manufacturing arm of the McLaren Group, McLaren GT now confirms productions plans for limited run 12C GT Can-Am Edition ‘ultimate track car’ ahead of the 2012 U.S. Grand Prix. Described to be the most powerful 12C ever produced boasting increased engine performance of up to 630hp, this $596,240 track-special edition limited to just 30 units will not be subject to the usual racing regulations of the iconic racer 12C GT3 on which it’s based. It actually pays tribute to both Denny Hulme and Bruce McLaren who successfully raced a series of McLaren models in the Can-Am series.
