As we enter the cold winter seasons with short days,..waking up at the morning will be the hardest task..But we the Team of the Gold Pears have brought some of the tips for you students that may help you to wake up early during those toughest time..
1. Put your alarm on the other side of the room
That’s right, no more thoughtless whacking of the alarm clock for immediate snoozing, this method will involve moving out of bed to the other side of the room in order to get rid of that irritating beeping sound. Once you’re up and out of bed, the thought of crawling back in won’t even cross your mind. Hopefully.
2. Practice
The only way your body learns how to do something regularly is through practice. During the day, get into your PJs, brush your teeth, snuggle up into your usual sleeping position and set your alarm for a few minutes later. If you keep doing this your body will become accustomed to waking up immediately and before you know it you’ll be diving into the day without a second thought.
3. Arrange to meet others
If you want to have a productive day rather than one where you wake up too late to be able to achieve anything other than watching films and filling your bed with crumbs, it may be a good idea to plan something with friends. If you say you want to meet at the library at 10, you will have something to aim for and won’t want to let somebody down. Then a whole day of productive activity can commence.
4. Something to look forward to
Before you go to sleep, make sure you have some sort of a schedule for the next day, including something exciting which will motivate you to get out of bed. Even if it’s a new box of cereal to wake up to, it’s better than nothing.
5. Alarm ringtone
If your phone is your alarm, you might want to think more carefully about which theme you set your alarm as. Anything along the lines of ‘floating butterflies’ or ‘waterfall’ is likely to be utterly useless at getting you up and may instead just act as a running soundtrack to your dreams. No, what you really need is some sort of heavy metal/loud dubstep noise which is bound to have you waking up so disgusted and disturbed, going back to sleep will definitely not be an option.
6. Go to bed earlier
I hate to state the obvious but if you go to bed at 4 in the morning, it’s going to be a lot harder getting out of bed at 7. You may want to start hitting the hay at a more reasonable time if you struggle to emerge before mid-afternoon.
7. Have clothes ready
For a lot of people, not knowing what to wear can be a major reason for refusing to get out of bed. The thought of having to assemble a whole outfit leaves staying in pyjamas all day a very appealing prospect. So how about planning it all the night before so you can easily hop out of bed and look well attired in seconds. Simples.
8. Follow animal instinct
Have a look at your pet cat or dog when they wake, they’ve definitely got it sussed. You’ll see them tighten up all their muscles before launching into a humongous stretch and then sprint off into the distance. Try imitating this routine when you wake up and you’re sure to actually get up instead of rolling over for another 5 hour kip.
9. Arrange with housemates
If you really are pathetic when it comes to waking up, and have something you absolutely one hundred percent have to attend, the only option may be to get your housemate to come and sort you out at the appropriate time. Just be prepared for buckets of cold water, hairdryers in ears, intense shaking of your bod and the odd slap around the face.
10. Have everything prepared
If everything is ready for the next morning, i.e. slippers at the ready, ideally someone preparing your breakfast downstairs (the smell of bacon is enough to get even vegetarians out of bed in the morning) then waking up should be no problem. The thought of having to get things sorted and make an effort will extend your time spent snoozing indefinitely.
