In March
last year, 55-year-old Craig Lewis died of heart failure caused by
the formation in the tissues of the body of specific proteins, and even the
installation of a pacemaker could not save his life.
But two
doctors from the “Texas Institute of Surgery of the Heart” have developed a
revolutionary solution to this problem is to install the device of “continuous
flow“, which allows blood to circulate through the body, even in the absence of
pulse.
Dr Billy
Cohn and Dr Bud Frazier installed the device after removing Mr Lewis’ heart.
Within a day, the patient was up and speaking with physicians.
Now, Lewis
could be regarded as a first human without a heart walked
the earth. Not only that, the artificial heart to make this man had
no pulse. This is because the workings of artificial heart was
beating like a heart that is not original, but simply pumping blood
continuously without stopping. But however it turns out, as long as
it works, Lewis will stay alive even without a heartbeat and pulse.
Which is
worrying because it has no heartbeat or pulse, if this man suddenly collapsed,
and the people who helped him did not know the medical history, could have a
direct say Lewis died. Though he was still alive. Imagine the chaos if he
suddenly woke up in the morgue at night in the hospital.
